About The Role
We are looking for a highly competent and motivated Engineering Apprentice to join our high-performing Engineering team at our advanced manufacturing site in Brackley, Northamptonshire. As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Engineering across Avara Foods.
Purpose of the Role
To support the Engineering teams with optimising machinery output and product quality, and to minimise plant downtime through effective planned maintenance and reactive maintenance activities while maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice.

Structure
Merging practical experience with skills‑based learning, our apprenticeships are designed to kick‑start your career. You will combine college-based learning with on-the-job training, work alongside experts on real projects, and have a mentor to support you throughout the program.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Support the Engineering teams to ensure maintenance is carried out in line with the schedule and that corrective action is taken effectively and efficiently.
* Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns in more than one area on site, identifying root causes and suggesting improvements to prevent further breakdowns.
* Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer and work with the operations department to minimise plant disruption.
* Follow good engineering standards and hygiene practice for the department.
* Ensure all activities are carried out within company and legislative health and safety guidelines, highlighting possible areas of improvement to the Engineering Shift Manager / Principal Engineer.
* Timely report any Health and Safety, Animal Welfare and Environmental issues.
* Follow the communicated escalation route for unscheduled plant downtime and minimise downtime through good engineering practice.
* Demonstrate basic problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of issues.
What We Are Looking For
* GCSE results for maths and English (minimum 4 or C) and science is desirable.
* Practical ability to operate within an FMCG factory.
* Self‑motivated attitude with the ability to multi‑task and thrive in a timeline‑driven environment.
* Interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
* Experience in Engineering is desirable.
