Job Overview
Our Anaesthetics Theatres Team has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Anaesthetic Practitioner / ODP. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic individual with anaesthetic skills who can provide optimum quality of care to patients and support the multi‑professional team. The successful candidate is expected to have good communication skills and be an excellent team player, helping the team to achieve high standards of patient care within theatres at all times.
Please note that the interview date is targeted to be conducted on 15th May, subject to availability and volume.
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri‑operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
* Acknowledge personal preferences, rights, and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
* Maintain health, safety, and control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* Store, prepare, and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
* Prepare, monitor, and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, taking action if found to be faulty.
* Support, monitor, and care for patients during clinical procedures.
* Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
* Receive, transfer, and position patients for clinical procedures.
* Maintain accurate and legible records of care.
* Assess the requirements of the anaesthetic room/recovery room for the operating list.
* Provide all necessary equipment and materials for the list.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of operative procedures and departmental procedures.
* Demonstrate budgetary control, ordering, and supplying materials required within agreed budgets.
Requirements
Successful applicants must provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
