1:1 Teaching Assistant – Autism Support (Mainstream Primary) Start Date: April 2026 | Hours: Full Time (Term Time) Are you passionate about making a real difference to a child’s school experience? We are delighted to be supporting one of our wonderful mainstream primary schools in recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support an autistic child from April 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring, patient and committed individual who enjoys building strong relationships and providing tailored support to help a child feel safe, supported and confident within the school environment. About the role: Working 1:1 with an autistic child within a mainstream primary setting Providing consistent emotional, social and academic support throughout the school day Supporting access to the curriculum through differentiated activities Using visual supports, routines and positive behaviour strategies Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider school team We’re looking for someone who: Has experience supporting children with Autism / SEND (school-based or transferable experience considered) Is calm, nurturing and patient in their approach Can build positive, trusting relationships with children Is confident supporting emotional regulation and communication needs Is reliable and committed to a long-term role What’s on offer: A long-term position starting April 2026 The chance to work in a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school Ongoing guidance and support from a dedicated consultant A role where you can truly make a lasting impact on a child’s development If you’re an experienced or aspiring 1:1 Teaching Assistant looking for a meaningful role supporting a child with autism in a mainstream setting, we would love to hear from you. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
