This role has been created due to continued growth, with the business expanding its wholesale and engineering operations. Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer
You will coordinate day-to-day engineering operations while remaining hands-on with machinery, customers, and team development.
Your duties will include:
Installing espresso machinery and ensuring customers are confident with their equipment
Planning and completing preventative maintenance on espresso machines, grinders, and water filtration systems
Responding promptly to breakdowns and callouts
Tracking and reporting engineering KPIs
Maintaining regular customer contact and conducting site visits to build strong relationships
Recording all engineering work, site visits, and customer interactions via job sheets and CRM
Monitoring Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Managing and developing the Technical Support Representative
Completing monthly stocktakes and ensuring accurate ordering and reconciliation
Contributing to departmental strategies to support growth and profitability
Collaborating with the wider Wholesale team to support sales and customer retention
Maintaining a safe, tidy, and well-organised engineering workshop
Maintaining on-site machinery
Staying up to date with the latest coffee machinery and technology
Ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards
Requirements of the Lead Engineer
Engineering experience relevant to coffee machinery
Strong technical knowledge of espresso machines and grinders
Barista experience or the ability to dial in espresso confidently
Good IT literacy and comfort with software-enabled equipment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Creative problem-solving approach
Understanding of the machine sales process (ideal)
Proof of right to work in the UK
Full, clean UK driving licence
