Overview
A bit about the job
Aviva Zero is a greenfield Personal Lines insurer with big ambitions—to be the best in the UK market. As part of this innovative start-up-style team, backed by Aviva’s expertise and resources, you’ll help build and deliver high-quality software that drives excellent customer outcomes. You’ll work closely with Product Owners and SMEs, contributing to continuous development and delivery, while helping shape our engineering standards and practices. Our next big impact project is extending our established stack and business to include additional propositions.
Responsibilities
* Hands-on coding across the stack (TypeScript with React for frontend and backend experience in any language; willingness to learn Go).
* Collaborate with Product Owners and SMEs to deliver high-quality software and drive customer outcomes.
* Contribute to continuous development and delivery, and help shape engineering standards and practices.
* Participate in a greenfield/innovation-focused environment to extend the stack and propositions.
Qualifications / Skills
* Strong programming experience across multiple languages, ideally TypeScript with React, plus backend experience in any language; willingness to learn Go.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies, continuous deployment, and DevOps practices.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud); knowledge of event-driven architectures and big table design is a plus.
* Collaborative mindset and a passion for contributing ideas and solutions.
* Commitment to delivering high-quality work and continuous improvement.

* Salary: London Circa £85,000; National Circa £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
* Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
