Make a real difference overnight We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient Refuge Support Worker to safeguard the safety, security and wellbeing of women and children in our refuge during evenings and sleep-in nights. You’ll often be the sole member of staff on site overnight, responding to incidents, managing risk, supporting admissions and ensuring a calm, trauma-informed environment. Key responsibilities Provide emotional and practical support to residents during eveningsWelcome and safely admit new residents out of hoursRespond to the domestic abuse helpline, including overnight callsDe-escalate incidents using trauma-informed approachesSleep on site and respond to emergencies, safeguarding concerns and incidentsContact emergency services and on-call managers when requiredComplete accurate records and detailed morning handovers What we’re looking for Essential: Experience supporting vulnerable people or working in a safeguarding environmentConfidence working alone overnight and responding to emergenciesStrong communication, de-escalation and record-keeping skillsUnderstanding of confidentiality, risk and safeguarding Desirable: Experience in domestic abuse, refuge or housing servicesFirst Aid or safeguarding training Progression and Professional Development We are committed to helping you develop your career.
