Planning Enforcement Officer – Hertfordshire – £52.36 per hour (Umbrella)
A Local Authority in Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team on an interim basis.
Role Overview:
You will support the Planning Service by investigating alleged breaches of planning control and determining the most appropriate enforcement actions. The role requires close collaboration with Development Management, Conservation, Policy Planners, and other service areas to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused planning service.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate reports of alleged planning breaches.
Pursue appropriate and proportionate enforcement action in line with legislation and policy.
Prepare detailed reports, evidence, and recommendations for committee or legal proceedings.
Work closely with colleagues across planning and related services to ensure effective outcomes.
Provide professional advice and maintain excellent standards of customer service.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified Town Planner (RTPI or equivalent).
Demonstrable experience in local authority planning and enforcement work.
Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and enforcement procedures.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills
