Job overview
We are recruiting for a Senior Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant who shares our trust’s vision to provide consistently outstanding care to our patients. This is a 12 month fixed term contract.
You will be responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within our Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and cost effective medicines management service.
Main duties of the job
You will work under the supervision of the Lead Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician to assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within the Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and cost effective medicines management programme.
* Supervise the Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant (MMPAs) team at the Lister Hospital.
* Support the Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician (MMPTs) and Pharmacists and nurses at ward level to provide medicines management services.
* Produce and implement policies and procedures in line with medicines management process for wards/area.
* Participate and assist in the development of the medicines management service on the wards.
* Work collaboratively with the Patient Safety team, clinical services, frontline staff and managers to identify opportunities for improving medicines management compliance across the organisation.
* Oversee, co‑ordinate and monitor the safety and security process of medicines storage in all areas within the hospital and implement policies, propose changes to working practices.
* Assist with the training of Pharmacy technicians, pre‑registration trainee pharmacy technicians, MMPAs, junior pharmacists, nursing staff and other health care professionals in the medicines management process.
* Supervise and co‑ordinate the MMPAs to respond to urgent supply issues and queries as required.

Person specification
Qualifications / Training
* Completed NVQ2 or level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant (PSA) apprenticeship or currently enrolled in Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Pharmacy Services for pre‑registration pharmacy technicians.
* Minimum 4 GCSEs grades C/4 and above, including English, Maths and Science.
* Level 2 functional skills in Maths /English acceptable in place of GCSE Maths /English.
* Commitment to undertake Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice.
* Completed NVQ3 or BTEC Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
* Registered with the GPhC, or be a final year Trainee Pharmacy Technician awaiting registration.
* Completed Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
Previous Experience
* Experience in hospital or retail pharmacy.
* Experience in using JAC dispensing system.
* Previous experience working with oncology patients.
