Job Overview Are you a friendly, motivated and pro-active dietitian looking for a new challenge? An exciting fixed term opportunity has become available for a Team Lead Dietitian within United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful applicant will provide adult inpatient dietetic cover to patients at Lincoln County Hospital as well as Team Lead duties for a team of three dietitians and two dietetic assistants. The successful applicant will be supported by the Band 8a Inpatient Operational Lead. This exciting role would be perfect for a dietitian with significant post-registration experience, who has experience of managing the dietetic treatment of patients with a range of conditions, preferably including complex nutrition support. The post would suit somebody who is able to effectively prioritise and manage a busy caseload and is happy supporting others to do the same, whilst supporting the team’s clinical and service development needs. The Dietetic Service at United Lincolnshire Hospitals is very friendly and, and in addition to clinical duties, there is scope for service development and within this role, with the clinical caseload accounting for around 70% of the role. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to shape the service, contributing to the development of new ways of working, policies and guidelines. Main duties of the job The service provides support to adult inpatients, including medical and surgical patients, stroke, neuro rehab and those requiring complex nutrition support. Whilst the clinical caseload of the post-holder is negotiable depending on experience, an interest and competence in nutrition support, including parenteral nutrition would be an advantage Working for our organisation Pilgrim Hospital is situated beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county. This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations. The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG). Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities The trust comprises three acute hospital sites and you will work with the Team Lead based at Boston to ensure high quality dietetic care is delivered equitably across the group, and ensure that the practice of the service reflects the latest evidence base and guidelines. This will involve development and review of resources including policies, guidelines and diet sheets, and working with the Operational and Service Lead to escalate areas of concern. You will be responsible for the line management of the team, including recruitment and induction of new staff, clinical supervision, professional development and appraisal. You will also adhere to trust policy to manage sickness and HR issues, with support of the operational lead dietitian. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria BSc Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics HCPC registration Evidence of MSc level study Specialist post graduate training and evidence of CPD relevant to the speciality Desirable criteria Relevant management, leadership, teaching courses/qualifications Training in coaching/motivational interviewing skills Membership of the BDA Facilitation of Learning training FODMAP Training Membership of relevant specialist interest groups or professional bodies Previous Experience Essential criteria Experience of nutritional support across a range of clinical areas Experience of line management including appraisal and professional supervision. Knowledge of NHS policy and relevant recent local and national policy updates Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy Knowledge of the boundaries of own practice and able to appropriately access relevant sources of support Experience of contributing to Clinical Governance Desirable criteria Significant experience working as a registered dietitian in the NHS Competent in assessing and providing interventions in the clinical areas of parenteral nutrition and/or disordered eating Experience of service development Experience of enteral feeding via different routes/tubes Significant experience working as a registered dietitian in the NHS Experience of supervising staff and / or students Evidence of involvement in organisations which support the clinical area e.g. BDA Specialist groups Knowledge And Skills Essential criteria Evidence in overcoming barriers to change Able to demonstrate resilience Motivated to support and develop other team members to promote excellence as a service Able to evidence excellent team working skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organisational skills, including timekeeping, note taking and ability to manage a caseload independently Up to date knowledge of the evidence base surrounding nutrition support and gold standard care relating to relevant health conditions Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality at all times Desirable criteria Experience of service development, including writing policies and procedures Specific Requirements Essential criteria Prepared to work within other services/on other sites, within own professional scope, according to the needs of the service Ability to travel across the county to other sites/clinics/undertake home visits Desirable criteria Use of own car for cross-site travel if required
