Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are supporting Armstrong Chemtec Group as they look to appoint a Process Engineer into their UK team.
Armstrong Chemtec are a globally recognised engineering business, specialising in the design and manufacture of proprietary heat transfer and process equipment for hazardous and complex environments. With over 60 years of engineering expertise and a strong US heritage, they support major international customers across the oil & gas, petrochemical and energy sectors.
This is a brand-new role, created to build process engineering capability in the UK and reduce reliance on the US team - offering a unique opportunity to be part of a growing function within a well-established global business.
Opportunity
This is a front-end, process design-focused role, sitting at the intersection of engineering and commercial delivery.
You won’t be running a plant - instead, you’ll be:
* Designing technical solutions
* Interpreting customer requirements
* Producing proposals and estimates
* Supporting the sales process from an engineering perspective
You’ll be working on bespoke equipment solutions, supporting large-scale international projects with global clients and EPCs.
It’s ideal for someone who enjoys the analytical, problem-solving and design side of engineering, rather than day-to-day operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Reviewing and triaging incoming technical enquiries
* Interpreting process data, customer specifications and datasheets
* Carrying out process design calculations and equipment sizing
* Developing budget estimates and progressing to detailed proposals
* Supporting ongoing technical clarifications with customers (often over extended timelines)
* Contributing to both new equipment and aftermarket / retrofit enquiries
* Working closely with the US process engineering team, learning established design rules and proprietary systems
What We’re Looking For
We’re open on experience level – this could suit someone early in their career or a more experienced engineer:
You will likely have:
* A degree in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering (or similar)
* A genuine interest in process design and engineering calculations
* Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilityStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
* Confidence to make decisions and work independently
* Ability to manage multiple live enquiries and priorities
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage customers technically
Desirable experience:
* Heat transfer / thermal processes
* Oil & gas, petrochemical or related process industries
* Exposure to ASME or similar design standards
* Experience in applications, proposals or front-end engineering
