The Structures team plays a key role in assessing, maintaining and improving bridges and other highway structures that support the wider network. Your new role Lead on the design of new works and improvements for bridges and highway structuresManage general and principal inspections, condition assessments and maintenance activitiesOversee asset data management for all structuresPrepare surveys, designs, contracts and supervise works on siteHandle contract payments, variations, claims and disputesPlan, prioritise and organise team workloads to meet timescales and budgetsMonitor and report project progress to the Design Engineering ManagerDevelop solutions to a wide range of structural and design issuesManage abnormal load routingEnsure procurement follows council Standing OrdersAllocate work, identify resource gaps and support staff developmentLead on customer enquiries and complaintsCarry out recruitment, performance reviews, disciplinary matters and absence managementLead regular team briefingsAct as Client and Principal Designer under CDM regulationsEnsure health and safety compliance across all activitiesRepresent Roads and Transportation at meetings and committeesSupport and deputise for the Design Engineering Manager when requiredContribute to capital and revenue budget managementPrepare and present reports for internal and external groupsContribute to corporate governance, compliance and performanceLead on preparation and monitoring of the Service Asset Management Plan What you'll need to succeed Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering CouncilExtensive experience in bridges and highway structuresStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsProven project management experienceWorking knowledge of contract managementStrong understanding of health and safety legislationFull driving licence Desirable Degree in civil or structural engineeringPostgraduate qualificationExperience managing a teamIOSH Managing Safely or similarKnowledge of AutoCAD or asset management softwareLocal government experienceUnderstanding of pavement construction over structures What you'll get in return Opportunity to lead key infrastructure projects with regional impactSupportive and professional engineering environmentAccess to car pool scheme / service vehiclesOngoing training and developmentStable public sector environment with progression opportunities What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click apply now to forward an up to date copy of your CV, or call us now.
