Job Title: Part-Time Teacher of History and Citizenship (0.8 Timetable)\n\nLocation: Secondary School, Leeds\nContract Type: Fixed-Term (September 2025 - December 2025)\nWorking Hours: 0.8 Full-Time Equivalent (approx. 4 days per week)\nSalary: MPS/UPS (pro-rata, depending on experience)\n\nJob Purpose:\n\nTo deliver high-quality teaching and learning in History and Citizenship to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, fostering a passion for the subjects and supporting students' academic and personal development.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nTeaching and Learning\n\nPlan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in History and Citizenship.\nUse a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.\nAssess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.\nCreate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, curiosity, and critical thinking.\nPrepare students for internal assessments and external examinations (where applicable).\n\nCurriculum and Planning\n\nContribute to the development and review of the History and Citizenship curriculum.\nCollaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and progression across year groups.\nIntegrate cross-curricular themes such as British values, diversity, and global citizenship.\n\nPastoral and Safeguarding\n\nAct as a form tutor (if required), supporting the pastoral care and well-being of students.\nMonitor student behaviour and attendance, and liaise with pastoral staff as needed.\nUphold the school's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.\n\nProfessional Development\n\nParticipate in staff meetings, INSET days, and CPD opportunities.\nReflect on teaching practice and engage in professional dialogue to improve outcomes.\n\nPerson Specification:\n\nEssential:\n\nQualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.\nDegree in History, Citizenship, or a related subject.\nExperience teaching History and/or Citizenship at KS3 and KS4.\nStrong classroom management skills.\nCommitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.\n\nDesirable:\n\nExperience teaching GCSE History or Citizenship.\nFamiliarity with current educational developments and curriculum changes.\nAbility to contribute to extracurricular activities or enrichment programmes.\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nThis is a maternity cover/fixed-term role ideal for experienced teachers or strong ECTs.\nThe school is committed to equality, diversity, and the safeguarding of children and young peo
