Mechanical Assembler / Industrial Painter
Salary: £13.50 per hour (starting rate)
Hours:
* Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:45pm
* Friday: 8:00am – 2:45pm
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Mechanical Assembler / Industrial Painter to join our dynamic team. This varied role involves the assembly, modification, painting, and preparation of motors and gearboxes for despatch. The successful candidate will combine mechanical assembly expertise with industrial spray painting and finishing responsibilities, contributing to the quality and efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly
* Assemble motors and gearboxes of varying sizes and gear ratios.
* Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
* Modify motors by fitting both internal and external components.
* Interpret and follow engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions accurately.
* Ensure all assemblies comply with established quality standards.
Painting & Finishing
* Mask motors and gearboxes in preparation for painting and coating processes.
* Apply spray paint to motors and components using spray guns and aerosols.
* Mix paints, hardeners, and thinners to correct ratios as required.
* Perform touch-up painting to maintain product quality.
* Package completed units securely for despatch, including bolting to pallets and loading into shipping containers.
Stock Control & General Duties
* Monitor stock levels of paints, hardeners, thinners, and consumables.
* Support stock replenishment and ordering processes.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
* Adhere to company procedures and health & safety regulations at all times.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven mechanical assembly experience.
* Sound understanding of mechanical components and fault diagnosis.
* Competent use of hand and power tools.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable
* Experience in industrial spray painting.
* Knowledge of mixing paints and coatings.
* Familiarity with manual hoists and battery-powered pallet trucks.
* Basic computer skills for stock control and ordering purposes.
* Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
