Electrical Estimator

My client is an specialists mechanical and electrical contractor that are looking to strengthen the estimating team with an electrical estimator. They deliver a range of installations from complex power supply to boiler houses, gas pressure testing to electrical inspection and testing, lighting to air handling units. There typical values can range from £5000,000 up to around £3.5million. They deliver for large retail clients such as Marks and Spencer's and have places on large frameworks for blue chip clients. They deliver projects on hospitals, courts, airport, retail and commercial offices. Offering a good variety in the types of projects you would be pricing.
Key duties
* Identify and gain tender enquiry opportunities.
* Estimate and win contracts.
* Use of estimating and associated technical software.
* Take offs of materials from drawings, and inputting into estimates to generate bills of quantities where necessary.
* Liaising with the Buyer regarding plant enquiries, materials and subcontractor quotations.
* General estimating administration and support, e.g. copying drawings/specifications, distribution of information etc.
* Undertaking site visits or surveys to gain additional information.
* Ensuring that due regard to Health and Safety is given when compiling estimates.
* Ensuring that all requirements of the company Management System are observed in the compilation of tenders, and management and storage of documents and associated paperwork.
* Assisting in project accounting, including management of variations.
* Supporting the Buyer with procurement of materials.
* Production of supporting drawings.
* Operation and Maintenance Manual Development.
* Attending and participating in tender interviews as required.
* Working to the requirements of the Company Management System, i.e. ISO45001, ISO9001 and ISO14001.
Additional duties may include
* Supporting and assisting the Engineers/Project Managers in the delivery of contracts
* Assisting with designs as appropriate
* Participating in training and development, and workforce consultation activities.
* Other duties as required in a busy contracting environment
Person Specification
* Appropriately qualified in a mechanical, electrical or estimating/engineering discipline
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* High level of competence using estimating software, and MS Office packages, particularly Excel, Word and Project.
* Flexible approach to work, including occasionally out-of-hours working and travelling.
