Financial Crime Investigations Manager – UK Corporate Bank (RAU)Location: Birmingham, London, Northampton, Glasgow (Hybrid) Contract: 6 Months (Contractor) Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 anchor days per week on-site (Monday & Tuesday). Overall Purpose of the Role Barclays is seeking an experienced Financial Crime Investigations Manager to join the UK Corporate Bank Risk Assessment Unit (RAU). The role is critical in supporting the delivery of Barclays’ financial crime execution goals, with a focus on AML Watchlist and Politically Exposed Person (PEP) alert investigations. You will play a key role in protecting the bank and its clients by assessing financial crime risk, forming clear recommendations, and ensuring decisions are fully documented and compliant with internal standards and regulatory expectations. Key Responsibilities Review and assess AML Watchlist alerts, determining whether potential hits are true matches. Evaluate the financial crime risk associated with individuals or entities and assess the impact on UK Corporate Bank relationships. Decide whether client relationships should be maintained or exited, supported by robust risk-based analysis. Conduct detailed investigations using internal due diligence (e.g. CDD records) and external sources (e.g. Companies House, client websites, open-source intelligence). Prepare clear, well-evidenced recommendations for stakeholders, articulating financial crime risks and outcomes. Review and assess PEP alerts in line with Barclays’ Politically Exposed Person standards. Escalate cases requiring PEP Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) to the PEP EDD Team in a timely manner, ensuring all supporting documentation is recorded. Ensure all work is completed accurately, within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Maintain high standards of record-keeping and audit-ready documentation. Skills & Experience Essential Strong experience in AML investigations, financial crime risk, or compliance within banking or financial services. Proven knowledge of AML Watchlist screening, sanctions, and PEP frameworks. Ability to analyse complex intelligence and make sound, risk-based decisions. Experience producing clear, concise written recommendations for senior stakeholders. Strong understanding of CDD, EDD, and regulatory expectations. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight SLAs. Desirable Experience working within Corporate or Investment Banking environments. Prior exposure to UK Corporate Bank or large-scale financial institutions. Familiarity with Barclays’ financial crime policies or similar tier-one bank frameworks.
