My client, a leading US hedge fund, is seeking a senior Risk Technology Lead to join its London office.
This is a unique opportunity to operate in a highly collaborative front-office environment, leading the development and evolution of critical risk systems that directly support trading, portfolio management, and risk decision‑making across a multi‑asset platform.
In this role, you will act as a senior technical leader, working closely with traders, quants, and risk teams to define and deliver scalable, high‑performance risk infrastructure. While remaining close to the technology, your focus will be on driving technical direction, leading a team, and ensuring high‑quality delivery across the platform.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design and evolution of core risk systems supporting trading and portfolio management
* Drive delivery of real‑time risk analytics, including P&L, sensitivities, and stress testing
* Act as the primary interface between engineering, risk, and trading stakeholders
* Provide technical leadership across the team, including architecture, design decisions, and best practices
* Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a high‑performance and collaborative culture
* Oversee project delivery across the full development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timeliness
* Maintain a hands‑on presence where required (~20–30%), contributing to critical components and reviews
* Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability across the risk platform
Requirements
* Strong experience in Java within high‑performance or front‑office environments
* Deep understanding of risk concepts (e.g. P&L, market risk, sensitivities, stress testing)
* Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
* Strong architectural and systems design capabilities
* Experience working closely with trading, risk, and quantitative stakeholders
* Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
* Excellent communication skills and leadership presence
