Job overview

The Dietetics team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital has a job opportunity for a Band 5 Dietitian within the Adult team.

The role involves taking responsibility for the Dietetic management of inpatients with a diverse range of conditions, primarily across acute medical and surgical wards, and a regular outpatient clinic.

If successful, you will be supported with a preceptorship programme, regular clinical supervision sessions, team CPD sessions, shadowing, peer review opportunities and appraisals. The Trust provides a variety of in-house training, and funding for external courses can be applied for.

Main duties of the job

* To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of inpatients within the Trust, primarily across acute medical and surgical wards.
* To manage a regular outpatient clinic. This clinic will primarily involve the dietetic management of patients requiring nutritional support advice, and advice relating to gastrointestinal conditions.
* To work with other adult Dietitians in the department to ensure appropriate cover for the Dietetic service.
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely documentation in line with legal, Trust and departmental requirements. To communicate assessments and plans to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and letters as required, in a timely manner.
* To supervise students and work experience students, and to contribute to the relevant student assessment processes.
* To work within HCPC and BDA standards, relevant national and local policies, standard operating procedures, processes and guidelines.
