My client is seeking a Data Protection Manager to join their team for a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Data Protection & Privacy:
* Oversee data protection and privacy rules.
* Identify, assess, and manage data and cyber risks.
* Report data breaches and ensure compliance with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
* General Responsibilities:
* Ensure data protection and privacy rules are followed.
* Manage operational risks and ensure they are identified and controlled.
* Oversee relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure they meet standards.
* Follow data governance policies, especially for sensitive or personal data.
* Specific Responsibilities:
* Advise senior management and staff on data protection laws (like GDPR).
* Monitor compliance with data protection laws, conduct audits, and train staff.
* Be the main contact for the ICO and individuals whose data is processed.
* Keep records to prove compliance with data protection laws.
* Support teams to ensure data policies are followed and monitor their effectiveness.
* Oversee cyber risks related to personal data.
* Manage relationships with the ICO and handle regulatory notifications.
* Identify, assess, and manage privacy risks.
* Develop and maintain policies like data retention, privacy notices, and accountability frameworks.
* Analyse and report on privacy risks to senior management.
* Monitor processes for data protection, including handling data breaches and access requests.
* Advise senior leaders and the board on improvements needed to meet compliance.
Experience / Skills Required
* Strong knowledge of data privacy laws, including GDPR.
* Ability to handle many tasks at once and prioritise effectively.
* A dedicated attitude and take pride in delivering excellent work.
* Strong communication skills to explain complex regulations clearly.
* Confidence to work with senior leaders and influence decisions.
