The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership opportunity to set the direction for our bridges and civil structures capability in Scotland; shaping technical excellence, delivery performance and long‑term growth across a high‑profile portfolio of work.
You will lead and inspire, setting professional standards, building a strong talent pipeline, and creating the capacity and succession needed to deliver consistently for clients, today and into the future.
Alongside practice leadership, you will develop compelling client propositions and differentiated offerings, championing innovation, and building our external profile through thought leadership. Working closely with peers across the practice and client delivery teams, you will help win, shape and deliver solutions that make a measurable difference.
The role
* Collaborates across the business to develop innovative industry‑leading client solutions.
* Proposition development and innovation, ensuring the development of industry‑leading and value‑adding solutions for our clients.
* Liaises with Business Development colleagues to develop the pipeline and associated resource requirements, and provides input into Strategy and Business Development on market trends and developments.
* Liaises with the Business Director and Client Delivery Directors to understand resource requirements and provide expert input into shaping project and resourcing plans.
* Liaises with Operations colleagues to clarify forward resource requirements, supply and demand.
* Actively contributes to bidding activity, including development of win strategy and delivery of bid content.
* Identifies and engages with key stakeholders to ensure robust resource management, ensuring the practice can respond to resource requirements from projects and bids, including attracting new talent.
* Accountable for the economical utilisation of practice resources, ensuring optimum skill and capability are available on time for projects and bids.
* Embeds robust capability management, ensuring optimum skill and capability within the resource pool.
* Develops clear plans to address skill shortages or capability gaps, ensures a pipeline of available talent and evidences long‑term workforce planning.

* Ensures clear governance and reporting relating to people resourcing and capability; everyone understands expectations through the setting of robust objectives and regular feedback to manage performance.

* Drives change programmes as required to ensure optimum efficiency and utilisation.
What You Will Bring To Us
* Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
* Professional qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.

* Extensive people‑management experience, evidence of developing engaged and motivated teams.

* Strong sector knowledge including relevant market opportunity.
* Consultancy background.
* Ability to develop clear client propositions.
* Evidence of thought leadership and industry influence.
