Help us make a difference as an Operational Support Manager
Support the Sizewell C waste operation by driving continuous improvement in compliance, health & safety, and on-site service performance in line with contract objectives.
With a strong focus on safety and compliance, you will enhance productivity and service quality, not restrict it. While based within the Sizewell C contract, you will also work collaboratively across the division, engaging with stakeholders both inside and outside your reporting structure.
Join a Landmark Project, Sizewell C Nuclear Power Station. Biffa's Specialist Services Industrial Division has secured the waste management contract for the build of Sizewell C, a major nuclear power station development in Suffolk. With a projected 9 to 12-year construction period, this high-profile project mirrors our successful work at Hinkley Point C.
Operations will eventually move to a purpose-built Waste Consolidation Centre, but initially, our team will manage the contract directly from the client's site, overseeing collections, subcontractors, reporting, invoicing, and waste consultancy.
Your core responsibilities
1. Champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring all site operations meet Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
2. Assist in developing and delivering HSE strategies, induction content, and ongoing education.
3. Review and update key documents including RAMS, EMP, EICP, and Health & Safety plans.
4. Ensure full compliance of 3rd party contractors with all HSE and environmental requirements.
5. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, driving continuous improvement.
6. Maintain accurate incident records, analyze data, and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
7. Keep HSE communications current and relevant, producing reports and bulletins as required.
8. Support environmental incident response and participate in emergency response activities.
Qualifications: NEBOSH qualification (essential) with a strong HSE focus.
