Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the North East Essex team for a motivated and enthusiastic psychology graduate with experience and interest in working with children and young people who have mental health or emotional wellbeing difficulties.
This is a varied role which offers the successful candidate the opportunity to participate in clinical and service development roles under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. The successful post holder will receive weekly supervision, training and support in this role and be part of one of the UK’s most innovative healthcare Trusts.
Applicants should possess a good honours degree in psychology (1 or high 2:1), preferably have experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties and previous experience of administrating psychometric assessments would also be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
NELFT’s CAMHS is for anybody aged between 0-18, living in the Southend, Essex and Thurrock areas and is free at the point of entry. The service is also for young people with special educational needs (SEN) up to the age of 25. Any young person experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health problems, (or any parent, guardian, professional or teacher of a child who is experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties), may access our service.
Referral difficulties
* Mood and anxiety difficulties
* Behavioural and conduct difficulties
* Eating difficulties
* Deliberate self-harm and suicidal ideation
* Substance misuse with co-existing mental health needs (dual diagnosis)
* Neurodevelopmental disorders with co-occurring mental health needs
All referrals to the service are assessed using a triage approach, developed in line with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance criteria (NICE) and based on a best practice model of treatment.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Induction
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
