Role: Configuration Management Lead / Configuration Manager

Key Responsibilities
1. Configuration Management Strategy & Governance
o Define and implement the Configuration Management strategy, policies, and processes.
o Establish and maintain the CMDB governance framework aligned with ITIL best practices.
o Ensure standardization of configuration management processes across the organization.
o Drive CMDB maturity and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. CMDB Management & Data Integrity
o Own and maintain the CMDB platform ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
o Define CI classes, attributes, relationships, and lifecycle management.
o Implement processes for CI identification, control, status accounting, and verification/audit.
o Conduct regular audits and reconciliation of CMDB data with discovery tools.
3. IT Asset & Service Mapping
o Manage IT asset lifecycle (hardware, software, cloud resources).
o Enable service mapping and dependency mapping across applications and infrastructure.
o Integrate CMDB with discovery and monitoring tools for real‑time updates.
o Ensure alignment between asset management and configuration management.
4. Integration with ITSM Processes
o Collaborate with Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management teams.
o Ensure CMDB supports impact analysis, root cause analysis, and change risk assessment.
o Enable accurate service impact visibility during outages or changes.
o Drive adoption of CMDB across operations teams.
5. Tools & Automation
o Lead implementation and enhancement of tools such as ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Helix, etc.
o Leverage automation and discovery tools for CI population and updates.
o Define integrations with monitoring, cloud, DevOps, and security systems.
o Improve efficiency through scripting, APIs, and automation frameworks.
6. Reporting & Analytics
o Develop dashboards and reports for CMDB health, data quality, and compliance.
o Track KPIs such as data accuracy, CI completeness, audit compliance, and usage metrics.
o Provide insights for decision‑making and operational improvements.
7. Stakeholder & Team Management
o Engage with cross‑functional teams (Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, DevOps).
o Act as SME for configuration management processes and toolsets.
o Lead and mentor CMDB analysts and administrators.
o Collaborate with vendors and tool partners.
8. Risk, Compliance & Audit
o Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
o Support audit activities and provide CMDB evidence as required.
o Identify risks in configuration data and implement mitigation actions.
Required Skills & Competencies
* Technical Skills
o Strong expertise in Configuration Management, CMDB, and IT Asset Management.
o Deep understanding of ITIL v3/v4 (Service Asset & Configuration Management).
o Hands‑on experience with tools like ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Remedy/Helix, Micro Focus.
o Knowledge of Discovery tools (e.g., ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM, Tanium).
o Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments.
o Familiarity with APIs, automation tools, and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
