ESTIMATOR/ KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER SUMMARY
Capilaux Aero are representing an aerospace business who specialises in Machined Components and Fabricated Assemblies. This is a newly created role, which will incorporate Estimating for CNC machining projects and managing the business’s primary client accounts. A background in CNC machining is vital for this role, so that the candidate can quote for CNC projects, manage lead times and hold technical conversations with clients. This position will involve 40% administration – managing prime accounts, looking at their work, managing it through the production cycle, reporting any updates to clients, leading higher level / technical conversations, and 60% quoting new work for CNC machining.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To prepare accurate estimates by gathering proposals, engineering specifications, and related documents
2. To accurately follow detailed client specifications to assess labor requirements
3. To prepare labor, material, and time requirements on a job-by-job basis
4. To build & maintain a close working relationship with key customers, and internal stakeholders, i.e. production staff to assist in the scheduling & prioritizing of workflows
5. To maintain and update an accurate costing database
6. Maintain effective and regular liaison with material and tooling suppliers
7. Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
8. Prepare and submit weekly reports to key customers and internal stakeholders as and when requested
9. Participate in weekly customer calls to discuss expedited and sales forecast Pipeline
10. Manage key actions on customer action plans
11. Create project GANT charts and plans to drive completion and delivery (for complex projects only)
12. Provide monthly feedback on late lines to improve customer and supplier score cards
13. Manage Change requests and cost of engineering changes including customer MRF’s through the business
14. Manage and push through items in MRB
KEY REQUIREMENTS
* A good general engineering knowledge
* An excellent knowledge of associated materials, treatments, paints, and aerospace engineering methods
* Ability to follow written instructions and interpret concise detailed engineering drawings
* Experience in quoting / costing / estimating for CNC projects / understanding of 3/5 axis machining
* A good understanding of engineering tolerances
* A good working knowledge of CAD software to interpret data along with the use of bespoke work tracking systems – MIE Track
* Experience working in a similar role in the Aerospace & Defence industry is preferred but not essential
* Minimum ONC in Engineering or 3 years of industry-relevant experience
* Familiarity with a computerized quoting system
* A good understanding of aerospace assembly techniques
