In the UK we manufacture and distribute float, rolled and coated glass under the Pilkington brand name. We have a temporary opportunity for a Cold End Operator, based at our Float Manufacturing line at Greengate Works. The successful candidate will be required to work continuous shifts, under the supervision of Team Leaders and Supervisors, and may in future be required to work at either of our St Helens sites to satisfy operational requirements. This role requires significant flexibility and mobility in responding to changes in priorities, which may require change at short notice to another task, work area or shift arrangement. The shift pattern 12 hour days and nights, worked on a 4-on, 4-off basis. The jobholder will be required to operate plant, equipment and information systems in all areas of Cold End as appropriate, including the driving of works’ vehicles, in order to meet production schedules and achieve the required standards of safety, quality and customer service. Able to work co-operatively as part of a team and be prepared to work flexibly in order to respond to changing demands Previous experience of working in a glass production environment (particularly glass handling) would be an advantage, together with knowledge and understanding of the process operation.
