Job Summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for passionate and forward‑thinking professionals to join our Transport Planning Service, helping to shape the policies and strategies that underpin the Birmingham Transport Plan and guide the city’s future transport programmes and projects.

With billions of pounds of investment currently flowing into major developments and infrastructure across the West Midlands, and with the Council accelerating delivery of its ambitious Birmingham Transport Plan, this is a pivotal moment for transport policy and strategy development. Our transport system is evolving rapidly to support sustainable growth, respond to climate challenges, and enable a healthier, more accessible and connected city.

We are seeking talented transport planners with a strong interest in policy and strategy to play a central role in shaping our work, translating evidence, insight and innovation into clear policy frameworks and strategic guidance that will influence delivery on the ground. This is an opportunity to work at the interface of policy, planning and programme development, ensuring new initiatives are grounded in robust thinking and aligned with the city’s long‑term vision.
