We are working with a specialist ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy in Derby to recruit a Graduate Geologist to join their expanding team.
This is a strong opportunity for a recent graduate to gain practical experience across site investigations, logging, and reporting, with structured training and support towards professional development.
The Role
You will support the delivery of ground investigation projects, gaining experience in both site-based works and office-based reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with ground investigations (trial pits, boreholes, window sampling)
Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS 5930
Supervising drilling crews and subcontractors on site
Collecting and handling soil and groundwater samples
Supporting in-situ testing (SPT, gas and groundwater monitoring)
Assisting in the preparation of:
Factual reports
Phase 1 desk studies
Recording site data accurately and maintaining field records
Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures
Requirements
Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Earth Sciences
Strong interest in ground investigation and site work
Understanding of basic soil mechanics and logging principles
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Willingness to work outdoors and travel to site
