Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to mentor the next generation of Royal Navy engineers, leveraging career expertise without the need for prior teaching experience.
Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver "better trained sailors to the front line faster".
Your role will be to provide support to the delivery of training across the Coppersmith/Pipefitter skills area within the Skill of Hand Training group.
This role is offered on a term-time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will be pro rata and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
Responsibilities
* Provide training on how to fit pipework on ships from a drawing (Fit from design).
* Teach brazing techniques.
* Maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.
* Support trainee development through assessment, feedback, and personalised learning approaches.
* Maintain and update training materials, and contribute to modernising and improving training delivery.
* Ensure compliance with KPIs, SLAs, and safety standards, while maintaining a CPD portfolio.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications
* Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline
* Proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
* Competent practical Coppersmith/Pipefitter hand skills
Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications
* Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)
* Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment
