The role
As a Remote Operations Centre Geophysicist, you will be part of the team within the state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Aberdeen. The ROC supports offshore operations using innovative technology and protocols from our onshore facility. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of an innovative way of working for Fugro, helping to ensure industry leadership.
The Geophysicist will be involved in and responsible for the acquisition, quality control, interpretation, and analysis of marine geophysical data, geohazard assessment, and the integration of geophysical, environmental, and geotechnical data. The focus is on generating client deliverables as part of the Marine Site Characterization Client Deliverables team, working in shifts within our Remote Operations Centre.
The position operates on a rotational basis with 12-hour shifts: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off, followed by 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
Your Responsibilities
* Acquisition, quality control, interpretation, and analysis of marine geophysical data
* Geohazard assessment and data integration
* Generation of client deliverables in a team setting within our Remote Operations Centre
Who We’re Looking For
We seek an individual with a Bachelor’s or MSc in Geophysics, Geology, or a related discipline, with understanding of geophysical equipment and methods used in shallow marine environments. Knowledge of data interpretation, mapping, visualization, and plotting software is essential. Practical field experience with marine geophysical surveys—such as data acquisition, quality control, and interpretation of side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, and magnetometer data—is required. Familiarity with Sonarwiz, Kingdom Suite, Oasis Montaj, and ArcGIS is desirable.
You should be seeking an onshore position with a regular schedule in the Remote Operations Centre and be willing to relocate to Aberdeen.
