Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Assistant Care Manager at The Big House, a short break home located in Edwinstowe. We are seeking a resilient and dynamic individual to join our proactive and skilled management team. In this role, you will provide effective support to the Registered Manager, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality care for children with significant intellectual disabilities who may present complex and challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Registered Manager in developing and implementing the home's philosophy.
* Assisting in the development of services for children and their families.
* Participating in the review of service effectiveness, quality, and equality.
* Providing direct support to staff and children in managing complex behaviours.
* Working alongside two other Assistant Care Managers to support the management team.
* Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence.
* Engaging in various managerial tasks within a rewarding yet challenging environment.
Required Skills And Qualifications
* A minimum of three years' experience in residential childcare.
* A qualification at NVQ Level 3 (Children and Young People/Health and Social Care/Diploma) or equivalent, plus one year of post‑qualifying experience.
* Evidence of regular training experiences and a willingness to undertake a management qualification.
Soft Skills
* A passion for working with children and a genuine understanding of the challenges they and their families face.
* Strong leadership skills to guide and support staff effectively.
* The ability to build positive relationships and safeguard children from harm.
* A commitment to enabling children to achieve positive outcomes and providing enjoyable experiences through various activities.
