Prototype Exhaust Fabricator to join our clients specialist team. This hands-on role is focused on the development and fabrication of high-performance exhaust systems, including
manifolds, catalytic converter housings, and mufflers. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in
metal forming, welding, and precision fabrication of stainless steel and titanium components, especially in a prototype environment.
Key Responsibilities Fabricate
bespoke and prototype exhaust components including manifolds, catalysts, and mufflers from scratch or from verbal instruction. Accurately
interpret engineering drawings and CAD data, while also working without drawings when required. Roll cones
, develop flat blanks, and hand-form sheet metal. MIG and TIG weld
stainless steel and titanium to a high standard, with fine aesthetic and structural quality. Weld in inert atmosphere (glovebox)
where required for titanium components. Operate fabrication equipment including
sizing machines, rolling machines, seam welders, and presses. Participate in
on-vehicle development work, using
vehicle lifts to trial and adjust prototype systems in situ. Contribute to the
design and fabrication of prototype and production tooling to support manufacturing and testing. Work closely with engineering and design teams to
iterate and develop functional prototype parts. Inspect components for dimensional accuracy and overall quality throughout the build process.
Essential Requirements Minimum
5 years of experience in a high-level fabrication role focused on exhaust systems or precision metalwork. Proven
expertise in TIG and MIG welding, particularly with stainless steel and titanium. Skilled in
hand-forming and sheet metal development, particularly in low-volume, prototype, or motorsport environments. Comfortable working from
verbal briefs and minimal documentation. Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing
aesthetic, high-integrity welds and components. Practical knowledge of fabrication tools and machines including
grinders, drills, sizing machines, rolling machines, and seam welders. Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and deliver to tight deadlines. Full, clean UK driving license.
Desirable Experience operating a
CNC tube bender. Capability to
weld titanium in a glovebox or inert environment. Background in
motorsport, performance exhaust systems, or specialist automotive prototyping .
