Paralegal - Medical Product Liability

Position – Medical Products Team – Paralegal (Grade D)

Role:
This role will involve Assisting Lawyers and Senior Lawyers as directed in the running of a caseload of Medical Product Liability Group Action cases from inception to Trial, always under supervision and in line with current company policies and legal requirements. The team’s focus is on group action claims relating to defective medical devices and drugs. You will assist with running the individual client files and will also assist the team on the generic work which is common across the group.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the delivery for yourself of all KPI targets set by the firm.
2. Ensure cases are progressed in a timely, efficient, and proactive manner.
3. Liaising with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors and insurers as directed.
4. Dealing with all aspects of pre and post issue procedures under supervision in a timely and cost-effective manner.
5. Ensuring all actions as per Proclaim Action List are completed in a timely fashion.
6. Accurate time recording.
7. Maintaining client files in good order in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements.
8. Reporting to Senior Lawyer as required.
9. Assisting in the collection of & collating of medical records
10. Assisting in the collation of product labels and requesting product circulation dates from the Manufacturer
11. Maintenance of each group action Master Spreadsheet
12. Sending out client care packs and client questionnaires
13. Reviewing the information provided in the questionnaires and updating the Master Spreadsheet
14. First point of contact for client queries
15. Chasing documentation and information from clients
16. Preparation of client documents such as witness statements and Schedules of Information
17. Assisting the team with pre and post issue tasks as directed
18. Maintaining the teams Sharepoint and assisting with the organisation of documents
Essential Skills and Experience:
19. Desire to work in this area of law and preferably some experience
20. Graduate, preferably with Law related degree and / or professional qualification such as LPC or route to BAR or CILEX
21. Desire and ability to take direction and supervision from team leader
22. Proven legal and forensic skills
23. Good research skills
