We are supporting an NHS Trust in London is seeking a Estates Officer – Electrical (Band 7) to join the Estates & Facilities team on a 3‑month temp‑to‑perm basis. This is a pivotal senior technical position designed as a development opportunity for a highly skilled electrical engineer ready to take the next step into strategic estates leadership.
You will take a lead role in the safe, compliant and efficient management of electrical engineering services across a large and complex healthcare estate. The post is ideal for an engineer with strong technical capability who wants to grow into a broader estates leadership role with long‑term progression.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead maintenance, installation, testing, verification, validation and commissioning of electrical plant, systems and equipment.
* Ensure electrical assets follow robust maintenance regimes, including electrical testing records, PAT testing, generator tests and electrical SOP oversight.
* Lead on electrical incident management, including power failures affecting critical clinical services.
* Support the Head of Estates in providing a responsive, professional estates service.
* Work collaboratively with fellow Estates Officers and multidisciplinary teams on operational and project-related tasks.
* Supervise contractors, ensure safe access to plant and service areas, and guarantee all works meet Trust policies and HTM/ACOP standards.
* Participate in the Estates on‑call rota, offering technical support out of hours.
* Implement and monitor H&S legislation, HTMs, ACOPs, Permit to Work systems, RAMS and Trust safety policies.
* Conduct and update risk assessments, maintain compliance documentation, and ensure safe systems of work.
* Provide specialist technical input into capital projects, reviewing technical submissions and ensuring electrical safety and resilience in new builds and refurbishments.
