Offer description

Overview

Join to apply for the Interaction Designer role at Capgemini. We are looking to fill a number of mid and senior level interaction design roles.

As an Interaction Designer, you will play a critical role in delivering user-centred designs that meet the needs of our public sector client. You will also have the opportunity to work for other clients in government and the private sector. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver designs that are accessible, understandable, and aligned with the Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. Your work will span various projects within the UK Government, requiring a strong understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

Hybrid working. The places you work from day to day will vary according to role and business needs; it will be a blend of Capgemini offices, client sites, and your home. You will be expected to work from a Capgemini office a minimum of 2 days per week and be willing to travel as required.

To be considered, candidates must be based in the UK and have existing permission to work in the UK. Sponsorship will not be provided. If offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (Disclosures and Barring Service).

Your role

The services we co-create are often transformational – the solution may not be obvious and the landscape is complex, so we are looking for individuals who can make sense where there is very little framework or direction.

You will design and present concepts and user interfaces – including annotations for best practice in information architecture, navigation, and user flows. Use different techniques to identify and understand users and their needs, so that you can translate user stories and propose user-focused, evidence-based design approaches to meet these needs.

Design accessible and impactful products and services.

Employ a wide range of skills, including interviewing users, creating detailed plans, understanding data, facilitating workshops, and presenting research findings.

Visualise, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make disciplined decisions based on available information and research evidence.

Apply technical knowledge and experience to create or design interactive prototypes for products and services.

You can understand and resolve design-centric disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk. You can work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method to enable rapid Agile delivery.

You can communicate effectively across organisational and technical boundaries.

You can identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience. You will also contribute to the wider XD community and Capgemini.

Essential skills and experience

* Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards, using GDS design principles
* Grounding in user-centred design, from concept to final delivery

* Experience of working with senior stakeholders to get their input and buy-in
* Experience using a range of design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Invision, etc. and the ability to quickly learn new design tools as required
* An empathetic approach and ability to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them in a way that is clear for both audiences
* Ability to present designs and justify decisions you've made using an evidence-based approach
* Proven ability to create high-quality, compelling design concepts and artefacts such as user flows, journey maps, service maps and wireframes
* Understanding of what good digital services look like and how to design in an inclusive, accessible way
* Experienced in rapid paper and digital prototyping
* Ability to build prototypes using code to create dynamic prototypes using HTML, CSS, basic Javascript and the GOV.UK prototyping toolkit
* Knowledge in GitHub, Heroku and node.js
* Experience facilitating workshops, managing, and undertaking research with users and communicating using personas, interactive prototypes, and user journeys
* Experience of managing, mentoring and supporting junior colleagues

Desirable

* Experience of leading design sessions and integrating diverse perspectives
* Understand the strategic context of your work and how it aligns with broader project goals
* Experience of working in other sectors
* Consultancy experience and demonstrable experience of opening-up new account spaces
* Multi-disciplinary design skills set

* Relevant professional certifications or equivalent experience
