Join Social Security Scotland’s Data Protection and Information Governance team as a Data Protection Manager and play a vital role in maintaining public trust and compliance within this high‑profile, exciting environment.
As a key member of our Data Protection and Information Governance team you will lead on issues of particular complexity and sensitivity as necessary and will use your knowledge and experience to build capability and support the professional development of members of the team.
You will support our teams in adhering to legislation and policy through assessments, stakeholder engagement and promoting best practice. Your expertise will help shape our approach to data protection by design, and you’ll represent our data protection interests across various forums, contributing to continuous improvement and organisational learning. Based in Dundee or Glasgow, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment committed to high standards and professional development in this critical area.
Main Duties
* Taking a lead role in embedding and delivering our data protection by design and data sharing strategies.
* Providing expert advice on complex data protection issues across Social Security Scotland, particularly to senior staff.
* Overseeing the production, maintenance and review of data protection impact assessments.
* Overseeing the production, maintenance and review of data sharing agreements in place with external partners such as DWP and HMRC.
* Providing advice on new data sharing requests received from external departments in conjunction with the wider Data Services branch.
* Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the business to advise on data protection and information risk, escalating issues to the Data Protection Officer as required.
* Providing advice to ensure contracts with suppliers meet data protection requirements.
* Working collaboratively with the Data Protection Officer and other Data Protection Manager to agree objectives to drive improvements based on findings from risk, breach and assurance monitoring.
