The Street Works team is responsible for ensuring Lancashire County Council meets its obligations under the New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act, Highways Act, Road Traffic Act and Lancashire Permit Scheme. You will have responsibility for a range of additional functions which includes the licencing and permitting of skips, scaffolding & hoarding; managing and co-ordinating occupancy of the highway for events, highway works and highway development schemes, processing of road closures (Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders) and management of illegal occupation of the Highway.
As the Streetworks Co-ordinator you will be responsible for ensuring that all activity relating to street works in Lancashire is co-ordinated. This will include undertaking inspections, negotiating with utility companies and other third parties as well as Lancashire County Council departments. You will ensure they comply with all relevant regulations, codes of practice and guidance.
The post is a permanent full-time position (37 hours per week) based at our highway offices in Bamber Bridge or County Hall, Preston or working from home. The team operates on a 5 over 7 working weeks so working weekends on a rota basis is required. The working hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm. The role will cover the whole of the County.
