We are looking to recruit a Workshop Team Leader reporting into the Workshop Manager.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure the day to day efficient running of engineering team in the within the workshop. This role involves playing an active part in the leadership of the team by being the first point of contact with the engineers for all issues.
This role will be based in our Swanley depot.

In conjunction with the workshop manager the TL is responsible for the overall performance of the team in terms of customer service delivery, ensuring that all relevant metrics are met, in line with the current workshop KPI dashboard, including but not limited to:
1. Used equipment turnaround time
2. On time prep - Committed dates (New, Used, STR)
3. Average job times to agreed target
4. Quality of work produced to agreed standards
5. Number of trucks prepared to agreed targets
Tasks and Qualifications:
In addition to your normal engineering duties, the additional tasks and responsibilities of a team leader are to ensure the day to day efficient running of the engineering team to facilitate a high-quality customer experience within a designated area, playing an active part in the leadership, engagement and motivation of the team and being the first point of contact for the engineers. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workshop and warehouse.
6. To take the lead in all aspects of Health and Safety ensuring H&S initiatives and requirements are acted upon and communicated to the relevant forum or individuals, safety audits, site risk assessments and associated training (e-learning completion)
7. P0/P6 Near Miss and Job Safety Observation Lead Indicator reporting and/or investigation
8. P3 Engineer accident investigation - application of appropriate corrective action, accident reduction initiatives
9. Engineer performance management – including dialogues (where applicable), engineer engagement, retention, coaching and development to include training needs identification
10. First level technical escalation
11. Manage engineering coverage in the team - including absence management, auhorisation of holidays etc.
12. Team meetings - communication of business objectives and performance against both goals and targets
13. Completion of Service audits
14. WIP management - job and service completion to promise (including appropriate document completion)
15. Ensure that 5S standards are maintained and audits are carried out and recorded with action taken if required
Required functional competencies / experience / qualifications
16. Good levels of man management skills, having demonstrated an ability to work in a team and a desire to promote quality customer service.
17. A good standard of communication skills displaying the confidence to develop the potential of staff
18. Comfortable in Customer facing situations
19. Good levels of numeracy / literacy
20. Manage a team of c 10-20 engineers (subject to location)
21. Energetic, motivated and pro-active team player
22. Qualified maintenance engineer (NVQ level 3/ equivalent) in relevant discipline or industry experience.

24. Good knowledge of company IT systems with the ability to provide first level support

26. Qualified to conduct Thorough Examination
27. Demonstrate successful Communication and Management skills to deliver excellent service through a team of Engineers
