Sheridan Maine is recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a high-performing finance team where you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping the numbers accurate, meaningful, and delivered on time. You’ll rotate through a broad mix of management and financial reporting tasks, giving you the exposure you need to keep progressing.
This is a role that gives you plenty of scope to learn, contribute, and build strong foundations in both financial and management accounting.
This role offers remote / hybrid working, but to ensure smooth collaboration with the team and regular on-site requirements, applicants must be based in Dorset or Hampshire.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll become a key player in the day-to-day financial reporting for a company, group, or division, your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the month-end process and helping create clear, reliable management accounts
2. Playing a role in the annual statutory accounts process
3. Assisting with budgets, forecasts, and providing financial insight to budget holders
4. Making sure financial information meets the right accounting standards
5. Delivering reports for the wider team
6. Completing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring they’re watertight
7. Posting journals accurately, including accruals and prepayments
8. Producing ad-hoc analysis and helping explain variances
9. Highlighting where processes could be sharper, simpler or more efficient
10. Supporting external reporting when required
Who we’re looking for
11. An AAT studier looking to take the next step
12. A part-qualified accountant with experience in a similar role
13. Strong Excel skills and confidence with IT
14. The ability to interpret and present financial information clearly
15. Great attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines
