We are looking for a committed Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about improving life chances for all children and young people, enabling them to achieve their full potential. As a Pupil Support Assistant (2), you will work under the supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people requiring additional support.
You will be required to:
* Support pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in areas of learning and personal development.
* Contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
* Supervise pupil/child self-administration of medication, offering personal care to enable full participation, including toileting, administering medication as per training, and encouraging independence.
* Implement support programmes designed by specialists, such as speech and language, physiotherapy, or occupational therapy programmes.
* Support pupil/child mobility as needed, including moving and handling for emergency or short-term needs, such as toileting or injury support.
The Person
* Possess good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
* Ability to register with SSSC within 6 months of employment (applicable to Early Learning Centres, Primary, and Special schools) and complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
* Qualifications such as NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or a Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve these within the first registration period.
* Good IT skills.
