University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Stroke Nursing role on the F8 Acute Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. The unit comprises 28 beds and provides dedicated, patient‑centred stroke care 24/7.
F8 offers a range of activities, from hyper‑acute care to post‑acute rehabilitation, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of stroke specialists.
Responsibilities
* Deliver acute and rehabilitative nursing care to stroke patients.
* Provide patient‑centred stroke care 24/7 in collaboration with the stroke MDT.
* Assist with full moving and handling of patients.
* Participate in complex discharge planning and specialised end‑of‑life care.
* Cover flexible shift patterns, including day, night, weekends and, where possible, long day/long night shifts.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse with a valid nursing registration and PIN.
* Experience in stroke care is desirable but not essential – training will be provided.
* Strong communication skills to support patients with communication difficulties.
Transition to the role includes a two‑day MDT‑led stroke induction course, with further opportunity to attend a neuro course.
