Technical Officer Salary - £29,093 - £32,654 (Grade 5) Hours - 37 Hours per week Contract type - Full time, permanent Work Style - Flexible: working from home with minimum 2 days in a council location This role required a full valid UK driving licence and working occasional weekends/Bank Holidays to cover service needs and attend community forums. We are seeking a Technical Officer in Environmental Services to assist in the day to day provision of a full range of business support services, carry out health & safety/risk assessments for operations and inspect equipment in parks and carry out condition surveys of parks and other cleanliness inspections as and when required in public open spaces. Role responsibilities: To plan and co-ordinate Risk Assessments by developing, maintaining and updating all risk assessments for Environmental Services as required. To plan, co-ordinate and carry out Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome monitoring / assessment for Environmental Services when required To assist the Green Spaces Manager carry out performance inspections across Environmental Services as and when required. To ensure work is performed to a satisfactory standard in accordance with the Division’s priorities and targets set by the Head of Service and partners. Inspect work against agreed quality standards and propose corrective action as required. To assist the Manager in carrying out health & safety/risk assessments for operations and features in parks and on open land such as water features, pools and land adjoining canals. To carry out condition surveys in parks and green spaces, record and report defects. To carry out quarterly inspections of play areas, fitness trails, skateboard, BMX tracks and other natural play areas recording results on playsafe. To assist in the investigation of complaints by visiting locations and reporting back information to help the Support Manager resolve escalated enquiries. To assist in the investigation of 3rd party claims by visiting locations and providing records of inspections carried out. To assist in the provision of commercial activities including processing official orders and payment of invoices, involving the appropriate preparation, checking, verification and coding of invoices and orders, keeping records of expenditure and income as required. Role requirements: GCSE English and Maths at a minimum grade C or above or equivalent qualifications or relevant equivalent experience Full valid UK driving licence Willingness to complete RPII Operational Training Course once appointed Credit control experience Performance monitoring experience Risk Assessment experience Ability to use computers and Microsoft office packages Accuracy with figures For full details of the responsibilities and requirements of this role please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
