This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton with the expectation of travel as required. Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. Further benefits include a generous contributory pension scheme, private medical cover, 4x base salary life insurance; all of these and more that can be adapted to suit your own lifestyle Commitment to continued professional development ; development plans that are tailored to your individual needs and interests Global connections : join experts around the world who are at the leading edge of our industry, shaping the standards of our profession Energy Transition Academy; join a community of experts sharing your knowledge and gaining more exposure to a variety of existing and emerging energy systems – delivered by experts in their field Responsibilities The Key Objectives of this role are: Act as primary contact and manage turbomachinery activities on projects to ensure timely and appropriate input into design and assurance activities Act as the interface with other disciplines at the project level, attend design review meetings, provide expertise in design and peer review processes Provide turbomachinery specialist input and support in safety workshops like CHAZOP,, FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, LOPA, etc Perform or coordinate gas turbine and compressor asset health assessment (equipment condition assessment) Perform Gas turbine assessment to the requirements of ISO 21789 Manage and control man-hours to ensure efficient use of resources throughout the project lifecycle Produce technical and progress reports Assist project management in developing project schedule Review and implement technical bulletin recommendations from OEM related to turbomachinery Review Defect & Risk register to confirm items that should be addressed by the project as part of the core scope and items that may impact and risk of successful delivery of the project Perform gap assessments to ensure compliance with relevant client specifications, industry standards, and UK legislation Perform brownfield verification, including intrusive and non-intrusive surveys As-built or produce turbomachinery systems drawings, including fuel gas, lube oil, seal oil, etc to reflect the brownfield verification Evaluate existing turbomachinery embedded instrumentation to identify where there may be a need for further instrumentation to provide voting arrangements for control and protection as per BS EN 61511 Support reverse engineering of existing gas turbomachinery controls and protection systems Support equipment upgrade like retrofit of overspeed protection systems Support project performance by monitoring key performance indicators, such as cost and schedule performance Act as the primary contact for clients, ensuring their satisfaction and requirements are met Qualifications What Makes you Remarkable? Expected: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with demonstrable experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field Significant experience and technical understanding of engineering, maintenance, and operation of Turbomachinery (compressors and turbines) in oil & gas processing facilities Solid knowledge of process compressors and their drivers (gas turbine and VSD) Ability to prioritise tasks effectively to manage multiple projects running concurrently Stay current with industry trends and advancements in turbomachinery Understanding of commercial aspects as related to projects and operations Excellent communication abilities, with enthusiasm and diplomacy in interactions Inquisitive, well organised, and have a keen eye for detail Ability to work effectively in an integrated team environment, supporting colleagues and fostering trust and respect within the team Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate ergonomic risks Familiar with relevant API, ASME, ISO, and other applicable standards associated with turbomachinery systems, including ISO-21678, API 670 etc Desirable: Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering institution Hands-on experience with turbomachinery operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a gas compression facility Experience in brownfield upgrades projects
