Description & Requirements
About the Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC)
The CDSC was established in June 2022 by French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Special Envoy Michael Bloomberg to improve access to global climate transition data. It aims to accelerate the development of a high-quality, accessible foundation of climate data to support capital allocation for the net-zero transition.
The committee has outlined a blueprint for a Net-Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU), a global, open repository for private sector climate transition data, to be freely available to all stakeholders, thus aiding efforts to direct investments toward low- or zero-carbon options. The CDSC oversees the NZDPU's development and works to standardize and enhance the availability of corporate-level climate data.
About the role
We seek an experienced Secretariat Lead to manage the Secretariat's work, reporting to the Managing Director. Responsibilities include governance management, policy work, and external engagement, working closely with the NZDPU team. The role requires developing and executing strategic initiatives, engaging with external partners effectively, and possessing literacy in climate data and disclosure challenges. Experience from public or private sectors with a proven track record influencing international public policy is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing thought leadership on policy and technical issues related to climate transition data and disclosures at the international level.
* Managing governance and secretariat processes for the CDSC, ensuring alignment with member priorities and strategic goals.
* Organizing and facilitating the annual CDSC meetings, preparing materials, and tracking decisions.
* Supporting the Chair and Managing Director through briefings, bilateral engagements, and governance issues.
* Building relationships across institutions and jurisdictions to support the NZDPU delivery.
* Managing communications regarding the CDSC/NZDPU activities at international forums such as COP, G7, and G20.
* Supervising a Secretariat Associate and collaborating with the wider NZDPU team.
Qualifications and experience:
* 8-10 years of experience in public policymaking or private sector roles related to data and disclosure frameworks, with a strong influence on policy engagement.
* Proven ability to lead on complex policy issues, reconciling diverse stakeholder perspectives across international organizations, policymakers, financial institutions, and the voluntary sector.
* Experience managing governance structures for multi-stakeholder initiatives with international participation.
* Strong analytical skills and ability to produce high-quality policy work.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in discussing policy and technical data issues.
* Leadership and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to advancing strategic goals.
