–Contract:Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30 am – 3:45 pm), Term Time Only

Milk Education is recruiting for aLearning Support Assistant (LSA)to join a specialistAutism school in Maidenhead, supporting children aged4-16with a range ofautism and neurodivergent conditions. This role isideal for aspiring Art Therapists, offering a rare opportunity to work with pupils who useAlternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)methods such asPECS, Makaton, and visual communication boards.

For many autistic children,love and attainment need no words—expression happens throughart, movement, and creativity. This role allows you toexplore how creativity helps with emotional regulation, communication, and social engagement, especially fornon-verbal and minimally verbal students.

The Role:

* Supporting children witha range of Autism, fromlow to high support needs.
* Assisting withPECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, and alternative communication methods.
* Helping childrenexpress emotions and regulate their behaviourthroughart, music, and creative engagement.
* ObservingSpeech and Language Therapy, Music Therapy, Drama Therapy, and Art Therapy in action, with opportunities to shadow professionals.
* Supportingstructured and sensory-based interventionsto help pupils develop social and emotional skills.
* Assisting withpersonal care routines, including feeding and hygiene, depending on individual pupil needs.
* Encouragingself-expression through creative activities, allowing students to engage in learning in ways that work best for them.

Who We’re Looking For:

* Graduates in Art, Creative Therapies, Psychology, or those looking to retrain in therapy-based careers.
* A genuine interest inArt Therapy, SEN education, Autism support, or Neurodiversity.
* A patient, compassionate, and adaptable individual whovalues communication beyond words.
* Someone with anunderstanding of non-verbal communicationand an interest invisual, musical, or creative expression.
* A commitment to the role for at leastthe academic year, ensuringconsistency and trust for pupils.
