Team Leader Specialist Maintenance Services/Engineering - Guildford
Annual take home pay £31,000‑£45,000 + benefits.
Position Overview
Working alongside and leading a small team to deliver essential specialist plant and machinery maintenance and cleaning services to a diverse client base. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work in a hands‑on role as well as a leadership role, managing the relevant tools, supplies and associated paperwork, and will be customer‑facing.
Responsibilities
* Work in a hands‑on capacity alongside your team on client sites, using specialist equipment in confined and at times challenging spaces
* Provide direction, leadership and mentoring to the team (usually two direct reports), ensuring achievement of tasks assigned, managing labour and resources efficiently
* Maintain Health and Safety standards
* Monitor procedures and processes for the receipt, storage, transportation and use of tools and associated products; stock control; maintain records for an equipment inventory using Excel
* Conduct site audits to ensure consistent levels of quality in our service and capabilities
* Plan and document projects delivered to ensure continuous improvement and shared learning amongst the teams and feedback to customers
* Ensure that customer requirements are carried out efficiently and according to each project assigned in line with method statements and operating handbook
* Collaborate with the wider teams to ensure a professional, smooth and efficient service is provided and best practice maintained
Skills & Experience
* Hands‑on engineering, maintenance or similar/associated background; flexible if you demonstrate desire to learn and suitability for tasks assigned
* Demonstrated effective leadership, supporting employee engagement and motivation
* Previous experience of strict health & safety rules and regulations
* After relevant training, ability to work under own initiative without day‑to‑day supervision
* Indefinite right to remain in the UK (no visa sponsorship offered)
* Driving licence (able to drive company vehicles)
* Ability to travel and occasionally stay overnight in hotels (average two nights per week)
Package
Basic starting salary £31,000 increasing to £33,000 at completion of induction and training, plus £5,000 per annum allowances, plus overtime expected annual salary £38‑45,000, discretionary 10% annual bonus and excellent benefits. Requiring travel (and overnight stays, all fully expensed) from our base in Guildford; annual leave of 30 days including bank holidays, increasing with each year of completed service; working hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
