Job Summary
Full time or part time salaried GP at Houghton Medical Group, a friendly, well-established practice in Houghton le Spring with a growing patient list and a strong reputation for supportive, high‑quality care. Join 6 GP Partners and a multidisciplinary team that includes an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, full nursing team, pharmacists, social prescribers and an Advanced Mental Health Practitioner.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Deliver a full range of General Medical Services (GMS) in line with the NHS Primary Care Act 1997, including home visits as required.
* Provide clinical care in line with the GMS Core Contract and practice values.
* Support partners in clinical governance, QOF, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and service improvement.
* Maintain accurate computerised clinical records and high standards of documentation.
* Participate in practice meetings, training and development activities.
* Work 2‑8 sessions per week, each session approximately 4 hours 15 minutes, with 13 face‑to‑face consultations per session, plus telephone consultations and home visits as scheduled.
* Manage administrative duties: referrals, investigations, results, reports, electronic and paper records, and daily post, including sharing in the buddy system.
Person Specification
* Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent and MRCGP.
* Experience: Fully qualified GP with strong communication skills, patient‑centred approach and commitment to teamwork; experience with EMIS Web, Econsult and AccuRx desirable.
* Skills: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, support clinical and administrative duties, maintain records and participate in meetings.
