IN A NUTSHELL
As a leading sports nutrition and health food manufacturer, we produce a wide range of products including powders, capsules, tablets, and soft gels at our own manufacturing facility. We also collaborate with trusted UK and EU-based partners to develop our food products.
A senior opportunity has opened within our Innovation Team, focusing on expanding and renovating our internally produced powder products. This role is key to maintaining our market leadership and driving innovation across the UK and EU.
You’ll work closely with the Innovation Manager and Head of Innovation, as well as cross-functionally with teams across Regulatory, FSQ, IPP, and Brand. You’ll also build relationships with suppliers to bring innovative ideas from concept to launch.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
* Formulate and flavor market-leading sports nutrition products: Use your technical knowledge and creativity to develop high-performance powder-based products that meet customer expectations for taste, texture, efficacy, and nutrition. Lead flavor system selection, ingredient pairing, and sensory improvements.
* Produce EFSA-compliant product content: Write clear, accurate, and regulation-compliant product descriptions and articles for the website, ensuring all claims and nutritional info align with EFSA and UK guidelines.
* Build strong supplier relationships: Act as the primary contact for ingredient and flavor suppliers, managing negotiations and ensuring quality and sustainability standards are met.
* Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers for timely delivery: Work with the Purchasing Team and external partners to keep ingredient and sample deliveries on schedule, identifying and resolving delays early.
* Support Customer Service with technical queries: Provide guidance and explanations to help respond to product-related inquiries, enhancing customer understanding.
* Write and proof product copy for artwork: Collaborate with Brand and Design teams to produce accurate, on-brand product copy for packaging and digital assets, reviewing final artwork for clarity and compliance.
* Manage projects from concept to launch: Own product development projects, coordinating teams and timelines to ensure successful launches.
* Reformulate and improve legacy products: Update ingredients, improve flavor, or refine texture to keep products competitive and relevant.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
* Degree in Sports Science, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field
* Strong personal or professional interest in sports nutrition, with experience using sports nutrition products and knowledge of market trends and competitors
* At least 3 years in new product development or similar innovation roles
* Hands-on experience in formulating and flavoring powder-based products, with sensory evaluation skills
* Confident communicator and collaborative team player
* Keen eye for detail and process improvement opportunities
* Proven project management skills from concept to launch
* Understanding of EFSA health claims and their application in product development and marketing
