Salcombe Brewery require an experienced General Manager to operate our new Tap House in Sidmouth. The new bar will be beer-led supported by a unique food offer, providing an exceptional customer experience. Joining ahead of the venue opening, the General Manager will form a lead role in the inception of the new venue. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of brand-new opening in Sidmouth and join the Salcombe Brewery family.
Start date: March 2026
Location: Sidmouth, Devon
Hours: Full-Time which will include working weekends. Hours are likely to seasonally adjusted based on opening times.
Key responsibilities;
Recruit, train and develop a new team of staff to operate the business. Continue to inspire this team through regular feedback and leadership.
Create a welcoming atmosphere for guests, focusing on excellent service and knowledge.
Oversee all aspects of the finance, payroll, stock, and other admin procedures.
Deliver excellent results against the financial plan of the business.
Liaise with Salcombe Brewery team and present regular updates on progress versus the strategic business plan.
Promote a high level of cellar management and procedures to ensure upkeep of Beer quality are enforced.
Ensure compliance with all current and ongoing, relevant health, safety and licencing regulations.
Provide an entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to the running of the business.
Skills/Experience
Must have:
At least 3 years, experience in a similar role
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent Knowledge of products, in particular, Beer
Motivated and Creative in your approach
Experience in managing budgets, P&L, and forecasts
Desirable skills:
Proactive in working with the team in creating processes and improved procedures for a growing business.
Event management experience
New Openings experience
Desirable Qualifications:
WSET
Beer Sommelier or Beer Cicerone
A hospitality related degree/qualification
