Job overview An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infant Feeding Team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital as a Band 3 Infant Feeding Support Worker. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support families at a crucial time and to be part of a passionate, multi‑professional team delivering high‑quality, compassionate infant‑feeding care. The post holder will support the provision of a family‑centred maternity service, helping to ensure optimal care for pregnant people, women, their babies, and their families. Working closely with the Infant Feeding Team as well as midwifery and neonatal teams and external partner agencies, you will play a key role in promoting and supporting infant feeding across the Trust. You will provide high‑quality, caring, and compassionate support under the direction, though not direct supervision, of registered professionals within the team. This includes offering practical and emotional support to families, contributing to education and promotion of infant feeding, and supporting the wider maternity and neonatal services in line with Trust values and standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a caring nature, strong communication skills, and an interest in infant feeding and maternity care, who is keen to develop their experience within a specialist service. Advert The Maternity Support Worker (MSW) will undertake high‑quality, caring, and compassionate personal care and associated duties under the direction, though not direct supervision, of a registered professional. The post holder will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery of safe and effective maternity care. The primary role of the MSW is to assist, support, and work collaboratively with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide a safe, holistic, and woman‑centred approach to care for women, their babies, and families. The midwife is ultimately responsible and accountable for the care of the mother and her new‑born(s). Under the direction of the midwife or Registered Nurse (RN), and following completion of relevant training and competency assessment, the MSW will assist with and provide appropriate care activities in line with Trust policies, professional standards, and service protocols. Please use UKVI guidance on Skilled Worker Visas to determine your eligibility for sponsorship if you were to gain a conditional offer for this role. https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/your-job Detailed job description and main responsibilities Providing practical and emotional support to women and families with infant feeding, in line with individual feeding choices and plans Supporting breastfeeding, expressing, formula feeding, and responsive feeding practices in accordance with Trust guidelines Promoting positive infant‑feeding experiences and supporting bonding and attachment between parents and babies Reinforcing infant‑feeding information and care plans agreed by registered professionals Identifying and reporting any concerns or deviations from expected progress to the midwife or registered professional promptly Maintaining accurate documentation of care provided in line with Trust policy and professional standards Posts advertised to ‘internal staff’ are open to employees of hospitals within University Hospitals of Liverpool Group and you should confirm your employment within your application form. Note: U nder current Home Office Immigration Rules we are currently unable to offer right to work visa sponsorship for Band 2 and 3 roles with a salary of less than £25,000 pa as they do not meet the UK Visas & Immigration criteria.
