We seek an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production sites in East Thames Valley.
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.
Follow robust planned maintenance as well as get involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24/7.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Base Location – Speen WTW, Newbury.RG14 1RT.
* 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday 07:30-15:30, plus standby rota with additional pay.
* All PPE, tools, and a van when on duty and call.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and repair plant failures efficiently.
* Diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, support trainees, and refer to technical knowledge.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, automatic valves, flow/pressure measurement, PLCs, VSDs, chemical handling equipment.
* Participate in standby rota after training.
* Complete License to operate and learn water treatment processes.
Requirements
* 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification.
* Experience in electrical systems, ideally with an apprenticeship in a multi-skilled capacity.
* NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering is a plus.
* Experience with electrical plant equipment, pumps, actuated valves, control systems like VSD, and switchgear.
* Knowledge of health and safety standards.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided).
* Full UK driving license.
