We are recruiting on behalf of a technology company based in Wokingham, seeking an Embedded Applications Engineer to join their team. The role involves visiting customer sites to support sales engineers with demonstrations and technical knowledge.

About the role
The Embedded Applications Engineer will join the embedded team, reporting to the Technical Manager, providing design, support, and integration services to customers as part of a highly technical support engineering team.
* Deliver high-quality, timely design, support, and integration services to customers.
* Contribute to revenue and profit targets through design-in of franchised products.
* Prepare design and build documentation, prototypes, and procedures to ensure quality and reduce post-sales issues.
Responsibilities
The main duties include:
* Supporting the sales team with technical queries.
* Advising customers on solutions to meet their goals.
* Creating and maintaining build and test documentation.
* Hands-on build and repair work.
* Guiding customers and internal teams, including upselling opportunities.
* Providing product training.
* First-line fault diagnosis and working with customers for No Fault Found cases.
* Working with suppliers to repair faulty products.
* Testing products after repair.
* Collaborating with manufacturers on design issues and replacements.
* Providing detailed technical reports.
* Providing procedures for product integration issues.
* Offering BIOS updates tailored to customer requirements.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will possess:
* Embedded computing knowledge: PC hardware, PCI, cPCI, COMe, BIOS, EFI, drivers, USB, etc.
* Knowledge of legacy technologies (VME, PC/104), RTOS, Linux, Windows OS is advantageous.
* Engineering qualifications and strong troubleshooting skills.
Additional skills include:
* Hands-on experience building and repairing PCs.
* Experience with real-time operating systems, Windows, Ubuntu, Linux, and driver development.
* BIOS/EFI re-flashing, diagnostics, and solution proposals.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Personal attributes:
* Team player with influencing skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Hours & Benefits
The role offers a competitive salary, on-site parking, bonuses, and attractive benefits. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, with a salary range of £50,000 to £55,000 per annum.
